Article: Adaptation to handle larger ships

The Port of Szczecin invites you to get acquainted with the main assumptions of the project "Adaptation of the DB Port Szczecin container terminal for reloading operations of vessels with a greater tonnage"

Port Szczecin invites you to familiarize yourself with the main assumptions of the project "Adaptation of the DB Port Szczecin container terminal to handle ships with a larger tonnage"

Project: "Adaptation of the DB Port Szczecin container terminal to handle ships with a larger tonnage"

under Measure 3.2. Development of maritime transport, inland waterways and multimodal connections, priority axis III Development of the TENT-T road network for multimodal transport of the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Program 2014 - 2020

Co-financing agreement no. POIS.03.02.00-00-0046/18-00

Project value: PLN 78,834,513

Co-financing: up to PLN 32,016,550

The implementation of the Project allows to achieve the specific objectives set by DB Port Szczecin:

  • Adaptation to new technical conditions offered by the port in Szczecin due to the possibility of entering the port of larger ships
  • Adaptation to the requirements (preferences) of maritime owners in terms of the size of operated ships
  • Increasing the capacity of DB Port Szczecin, calculated with the capacity of STS cranes
  • General improvement of the quality of the reloading services provided and the terminal maintaining its competitive position

Increasing the number of new reloading operations performed by the Company

Increasing the value of sales and increasing the profit level of DB Port Szczecin Sp. z o. o., and as a result, increasing the company's value

Increased interest of potential investors in the location of operations in Szczecin; increasing the cargo potential supported by the terminal through the feedback

Within overall economic range, the objectives of the Project are:

  • Shortening the handling time of intermodal units in the Polish transport system
  • Increasing the share of intermodal transport in the total cargo transport in Poland
  • Contribution to a better balance of the transport system in Poland
  • Reducing the negative impact of transport on the natural environment
  • Reducing automotive congestion and increasing safety on Polish roads
  • Output indicators

Number of supported intermodal reloading terminals: 1 pc.

Number of terminals constructed or extended located in the TEN-T network: 1 pc.

Result indicator

Additional throughput capacity of intermodal reloading terminals: 60 000 TEU/year.
